Driven by experiences in mainland Europe in 1920s, 30s, and 40s with extremist regimes Emphasis on individual rights – the right to control use of ones own data The right to be forgotten How practical are these ideals in the modern world, and especially in context of Social Media? Other parts of world more market driven US – market driven, but also rights of individual. No overall binding international treaty
How can PDP give your service the edge? Risk management Protecting reputational capital Good service to care about customer, employee and stakeholder sensitive data Become a knowledge centre and source of guidance
