2 IntroductionIntroduction A region is a area of land that has many things in common. The five regions of the US are Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, West, and the Middle - West. The 4 regions in New Jersey are the Atlantic Costal Plains, Piedmont, Highlands, and Ridge and Valley

3 NortheastNortheast Appalachian Mountains are found in most of the states in this region Coastal plain- flat low land along the edge of the Atlantic Ocean We live in this region Four seasons- winter, spring, summer, fall

4 SoutheastSoutheast Warm all year Crisscross with rivers Davis Bayou- marshy slow moving stream

5 Middle - West Produces corn and wheat Central Plains- in the east, low elevation produces corn Great Plains- in the west, cold winters/hot summers, produces wheat Made of Interior Plains

6 SouthwestSouthwest One of the most famous landmarks in this region is the Grand Canyon Mostly made up of high plateaus, plains, and deserts Landforms include mountains, plateaus, and deserts Rocky Mountains appear in this region as well as the West

7 WestWest The Great Basin is in this region The redwood trees that grow in Oregon and California are the tallest trees in the world This region shares the Great Plains with the Middle-West

9 Atlantic Costal Plains We live in this region Largest region covers half of New Jersey Home to the Pine Lands

10 PiedmontPiedmont New Jersey's greatest population-borders New York City Located at the Foothills Palisades form the eastern border Fall line separates this region from Atlantic Costal Plains

11 Highlands Most of NJ's lakes are found here The town of Franklin is known for their glowing rocks

12 Ridge and Valley Home to Delaware Water Gap and High Point State Park Dairy farming is an important business Appalachian Mountains runs through this region
