2 Tree Test Trees do not play a single role in our society. Their uses stretch across many functions, from helping the surrounding environment to providing a habitat for animals. What is a tree? Do you know? In botany, a tree is a plant with an elongated stem, or trunk, supporting leaves or branches. Tree get nutrients from water, sun, and Carbon dioxide. The most common tree in the U.S. is the Red maple tree.

3 What are some things trees do?  Control noise pollution.  Produce Oxygen?  Cleans the soil and environment.  Helps control water runoff  Are homes to many animals, bugs, plants even grow on them.  The tree can give shade and emotional usefulness.

8 Outer Bark Outer bark is like your skin. It protects the tree from the insects, birds, weather, and animals.

9 What is a root?  Is the part of the tree under the soil.  The four major functions of roots are 1) absorption of water and inorganic nutrients, 2) anchoring of the plant body to the ground, and supporting it, 3) storage of food and nutrients, 4) vegetative reproduction.
