1. Prometheus Project A National Iniciative to develop science in Ecuador

2. ¿What is Prometheus? Prometheus is an initiative of the Ecuadorian Government that seeks to strengthen the research and academic capabilities of science institutions in the country through the involvement of foreign and Ecuadorian scientist living abroad. ¿What is the objective of the Program? Through the incorporation of Ecuadorian and foreign scientists of the highest level, promote and strengthen science, innovation and technology transfer in strategic areas of the country.

3. Foreign scientists are required a 4 months stay minimum in the country. This can be nonconsecutive periods of time not exceeding a maximum period of one year. After one year, the contract can be renewed for an additional 12-month period. Ecuadorian scientists, living abroad, recovered through Prometheus must complete a minimum stay of one consecutive year; their contract can also be renewed for an additional 12 month period. 5. 1. Have a PhD related with science and technology from renowned universities worldwide. 2. Vast scientific production (publications with important journals) related to the proposal. 3. Experience as the principal investigator, or project coordinator of a scientific research. 4. The applicant must have been recipient of awards, scholarships, or prizes and recognition related with his/her scientific work. 5. Living outside Ecuador at the time of the application. 12. Prometeo´s projects PhD. Jan Feyen Project: Research activities to improve the knowledge and potentiality of water resources located in Zones 6 and 7 of Ecuador. PhD. Federico Brown Project: To investigate the plasticity mechanisms of regeneration and budding in ascidians in the cost of Ecuador, and develop a mapping system of the features within a morphological and molecular phylogeny produced from the species studied.
