1 THE VALUES OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN EUROPE YESTERDAY AND TODAY Silvija Valaitytė Tauragė Žalgiriai Gymnasium Lithuania 2014

2 OUR AIM The aim of this survey was to get to know how our school’s teachers used to feel about certain things at a certain age. We questioned all of our teachers and here are the asnwers of 12. Let’s take a look!

3 1. W HAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE ? W HAT HAPPENED ? H OW DID YOU FEEL ? Most of the teachers to this question answered that the most memorable day in their life was when their child was born. Also some of them said that it also was their wedding day. The emotions were very similar : excited, blessed and of course – HAPPY.

4 2. W HAT WERE YOUR DREAMS WHEN YOU WERE A TEENAGER ? Different people – different dreams. But it’s nots surprising that all of them answered that they wanted to do something with teaching. So we can say that dreams do come true – all of them are teachers today.

5 3. W HAT SEEMED IMPOSSBLE AT FIRST BUT TURNED OUT TO BE POSSIBLE AFTER ? The answers were really different : some of them thought that getting into a university was impossible, others thought that they will never learn how to use a computer or drive a car. But all of them said that if you are willing to do something – you are going to succeed.

6 4. W HAT WAS THE MOST APPRECIATED BEHAVIOR IN YOUR TEEN - AGE YEARS ? A lot of characteristics were mentioned. Such as : diligence, friendliness, good learning, realibity, leadership and so on.

7 5. W HEN DID YOU FEEL PROUD OF YOURSELF ? To this question there were two types of answers. Finishing a university and changing something in their lives. That is when they felt proud of themselves.

8 6. H AVE YOU CHANGED YOUR MIND ABOUT ‘ WHAT TO TAKE CARE AND TRY HARD FOR ’ BY TIME ? The common answer was ‘no’. They all think that the things you have to ‘take care of and try hard for’ are family, health, your own happiness and job.

9 7. H AVE YOU DONE ANY COMMUNITY WORK OR WORKED FOR A CHARITY OR PARTICIPATED IN A SOCIAL PROJECT AS A VOLUNTEER ? Unfortunately only few of the teachers volunteered in a charity or a community work. But they all as one said that it was a great experience and it made a change on their views on certain things.

10 8. W HICH IDOLS OR CELEBRITIES WOULD YOU CALL UNDERSTANDING, TOLERANT, HELPFUL OR BRAVE ? All of the mentioned people are lithuanians. Take a look!

11 A NDRIUS M AMONTAVAS He is a musician, songwriter, actor and a producer.

12 V ALDAS A DAMKUS He was the President of Lithuania two times. First from 1998 to 2003 and second from 2004 to 2009.

13 G ABRIELIUS L IAUDANSKAS - S VARAS He is the founder of lithuanian music group ‘G&G Sindikatas’. He is also an active person in Lithuania’s social and educational life.

14 9. W HAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE / POEM OR SONG ?

15 10.W HAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO KEEP AND STAY HEALTHY ? Most of the teachers try to eat healthy food, some of them do sports and one male teacher has been jogging every morning for five years now. I think we have pretty youthful teachers!

16 11. W HAT CAN MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR HUMANS AND ANIMALS ? W HAT SHOULD WE DO ? Everyone as one said that we should start from ourselves. We should respect each other with respect, be polite and don’t pollute the environment!
