1 Famous traitor to the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.

2 America’s first constitution in effect during the 1780’s, providing for a weak central government and leaving most power in the hands of the states.

3 A military campaign lasting from June to October 1777. The British attempted to move south from Canada. Horatio Gates was the American general. The British surrendered at Saratoga. It was called the turning pint of the war because the French joined the American side after this battle.

4 Saratoga starts with a S which has a lot of turns which helps me remember that it was the turning point of the war.

5 Last major battle of the Revolutionary War. George Washington and the French fleet trapped British General Cornwallis on the Yorktown peninsula and he surrendered.

6 I remember that Yorktown is the last battle of the war because it starts with Y which is at the end of the alphabet.

7 Fort captured in 1777 by British officer John Burgoyne. The fort contained a lot of powder and supplies. Congress was dismayed that the British were moving in to the Hudson River Valley.

8 Also an early battle occurred here where Benedict Arnold, Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys captured cannons for the Continental Army.
