2. Costume Design A costume designer or costume mistress/master is a person whose responsibility is to design costumes for a film or stage production. He or she is considered an important part of the "production team", working alongside the director, scenic and lighting designers as well as the sound designer. The costume designer might also collaborate with a hair/wig master or a makeup designer. Costumes tell us many things about the characters and about the nature, mood, and style of the play. Visual signals add color, style, and the meaning of the plays environment. Costumes establish period, social class, economic status, occupation, age, geography, weather, and time of day. They help clarify the relationships and relative importance of various characters. Changes in costumes can indicate alterration in relationships among characters or in a character’s phychological outlook. (Chapter 11)

Actors Acting as defined by Sanford Meisner, acting is “living truthfully in imagined circumstances” and for Laurence Oliver, acting “is an everlasting search for truth” That search for truthful behavior is the foundation stone of the actor’s art (Chapter 9). Acting is the work of an actor or actress, which is a person in theatre, television, film, or any other storytelling medium who tells the story by portraying a character and, usually, speaking or singing the written text or play. Acting does not begin with preforming onstage before an audience. It begins with an individual’s talent, imagination, discipline, need to express, and process of observation through the actor’s physical traits such as: ears, eyes, skin, tongue, nose, etc. To prepare for a role an actor uses his/her personal experience to what he or she has seen, heard, felt, and experienced over a lifetime (Chapter 9). The best example I can give for an actor would be Denzel Washington. He can play any role no matter what movie he’s in.

4. Producer A film producer oversees and delivers a film project to all relevant parties while preserving the integrity, voice and vision of the film. They will also often take on some financial risk by using their own money, especially during the pre-production period, before a film is fully financed. The producer is often actively involved throughout all major phases of the filmmaking process, from inception and development to completion and delivery of a film project. Also an idea or concept for a film can originate with any individual, including a screenwriter, a director or a producer. A producer begins by obtaining the rights to create or co-create a feature-length screenplay. The producer oversees the process, which includes coordinating, supervising and controlling major aspects of the project. This includes fundraising and hiring key roles such as the casting director or film director. They will also influence the hiring of other personnel such as the line producer and/or accountant. An example of a producer would be Tyler Perry, he has a lot of great plays, and movies out that teach us lessons in life.
