5 States of Matter S – L – G TRIANGLE * There is a fourth phase (or “state”) of matter called PLASMA which is not commonly seen on Earth (though 99% of the Universe‘s visible matter is in this phase! ). This highly energized matter is made of atoms different from ordinary neutrally charged atoms (negative electron # equals positive proton #, therefore canceling charges).
