The ONCHIT-3 Award – High Level Overview Develop and evaluate a prototype for a National Health Information Network (NHIN) architecture to achieve widespread interoperability among health care software applications, particularly Electronic Health Records Provide a live demonstration of the solution at the end of the first year and develop additional functionality in the option year Our contract runs for twelve months with one option year Our location includes: CareSpark from the tri-cities region of northeastern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia; West Virginia eHealth Initiative; Appalachian Regional Healthcare, University of Kentucky and Cabinet for Health and Family Services - State of Kentucky Tennessee Kentucky Virginia West Virginia Appalachian Region

Participating in the ONCHIT-3 Prototype: –Limits the amount of paperwork you have to complete each time you visit the doctor –Enables health care providers to understand history in a clear format rather than illegible handwriting, incomplete records or records that are in a multitude of different systems that don’t talk to each other –Provides you and your physician with the tools to help improve your health and reduce your health care cost
