1 Mission Statement The Orange/Chatham County Utility Coordinating Committee will provide a forum for utilities, governmental agencies, and contractors within Orange and Chatham Counties to discuss situations which impact planning, engineering, construction and new technologies among the member organizations. This committee will promote underground damage prevention and the use of the North Carolina One-Call Center for notification of all excavation activity.

8 Three digits for North Carolina 5-1-1 5-1-1- IS A NATIONWIDE TRAVEL INFORMATION LINE PUT INTO PLACE FOR NCDOT CONSTRUCTION and ACCIDENT INFORMATION. THE NCDOT WOULD LIKE TO ENCOURAGE ALL USING THE SYSTEM TO NOT ONLY USE THE SYSTEM TO OBTAIN INFORMATION, BUT ALSO TO REPORT ANY INFORMATION THAT WOULD ASSIST OTHER MOTORIST. THE SYSTEM IS A VOICE INTERACTIVE AND/OR TOUCH TONE ACTIVATED.

10 Tired of being on the phone calling in locates…go Remote! The NCOCC offers a FREE Web based program called Remote Ticket Entry. The program allows the user to enter unlimited amounts of requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Thru the program, the user will have access to all tickets entered by his/her company and will have the capability to print a FREE copy of a ticket in the event verification is needed. The program is FREE, and the training is FREE! If you would like further details, please contact Stephanie SaintSing at 336-855-5760. A date and time convenient for you will be scheduled for training.

11 A New Damage Prevention tool in North Carolina…Positive Response November 2005, The Positive Response was introduced to excavators. The system allows the caller to check the status of their locate requests to see which utilities have responded and what the response is prior to the excavation. The excavator may call 1-877-632-5050 or visit website www.ncocc.org to check the response of the utility owner/operator. www.ncocc.org Calling the NCOCC to notify utilities is great and finding out which utilities have responded is even better! 15 April 2006, The Board of Directors voted the three non-voting positions become voting positions on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina One-Call Center. The North Carolina One-Call Center would like to welcome, the NCDOT, The Contractor and The Contract Locator as voting members on the Board of Directors. EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!

16 Get A Grip On Your Tickets WebTMS Searching for a way to manage your ticket load? July 1, 2006 The North Carolina One-Call Center will be unveiling a FREE web based application that requires no additional hardware or software to its members, introducing… Web TMS. Web TMS is a ticket management system which allows the member to better manage their ticket load 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Receiving tickets via email, automatically assigning tickets to a specific locator within a specific place or county are just a few Web TMS perks. The member will not only experience better Time Management, but the Web TMS system automatically responds to the North Carolina’s Positive Response System.
