Background and aims Aim How does having this device change your learning? Equipment TyTN Pocket PC Methodology Students given the Pocket PCs for a period of six months The Project Working Group met every 2 months Evaluation Competence, Types and volumes of material accessed; Perceived effectiveness of learning materials; Time management benefits; Range of learning contexts and locations; Suitability of visual format for learning compared with audio format; Wider or unforeseen use of the technology; Advantages and disadvantages; Issues of cost.
Findings There was a range of overlapping expectations about how the device would be used, which were largely met Frustration and disappointment around the use of WiFi and access to the internet Learning preferences were for active discovery and play Learning tool or Information management tool? Context and function the incorporation of technology into current behaviours WebCT and research behaviours Future work
