CHLOROPLASTS DREW SCHATZ, JOHN FEOLA, AND ANTHONY MILANDO

WHAT DOES THE CHLOROPLASTS LOOK LIKE?

WHAT KINDS OF CELLS CONTAIN THE CHLOROPLASTS? The eukaryotic cells and plant cells all contain chloroplasts.

WHERE IN THE CELL IS THE CHLOROPLASTS LOCATED? The chloroplasts float freely in the cytoplasm mainly around the nucleus and the vacuole

WHAT DOES THE CHLOROPLASTS DO FOR THE CELL? The purpose of the chloroplast is to make sugars and starches. They use a process called photosynthesis to get the job done. Photosynthesis is the process of a plant taking energy from the Sun and creating sugars. When the energy from the Sun hits a chloroplast, chlorophyll uses that energy to combine carbon dioxide and water. The molecular reactions create sugar and oxygen.

IF THE CHLOROPLASTS WAS IN IN A FACTORY, WHAT JOB WOULD IT POSSESS? If the chloroplasts worked in a factory, it would work by making solar panels because its job is to capture the sunlight and turn it into energy.

WHAT DOES THE CENTRIOLE LOOK LIKE?

WHAT KIND OF CELLS CONTAIN THE CENTRIOLE? The centriole is found in most of eukaryotic cells.

WHERE IN THE CELLS IS THE CENTRIOLE LOCATED? The centriole is located near the nucleus in the centrosome.

WHAT DOES THE CENTRIOLE DO FOR THE CELL? The centriole plays an important role in cell division. They separate during cell division and form mitotic spindle.

IF THE CENTRIOLE WERE IN A FACTORY, WHAT JOB WOULD IT POSSESS? If the centriole were in a factory, if would work in the file cabinet office because it helps organize the cell along with aster fibers which make up the spindle apparatus which organizes the cell before cell division.
