2. Nouns name people, animals, places and things. All Spanish nouns have masculine or feminine gender. When nouns identify one item they are singular. When nouns identify more than one item they are plural. When referring to mixed gender (masc. & fem.) we use the masculine form.

5. In your vocabulary list each noun is given with its definite article. The gender of a noun must be learned. nouns ending with –o are masculine. nouns ending with –a are feminine.
