2 Dictionary meaning Oxford Dictionary defines “Labour are those who are doing physical hard work for their lives”. Oxford Dictionary defines “ Welfare is the health, happiness and fortunes of a employee”. Financial support given for this purpose.

3 Need & Importance Industrial progress of a country depends on its committed labour force. In this regard the importance of labour welfare was recognized as early as 1931. Royal commission on labor in its report “ the schemes of labor welfare may be regarded as “ a wise investment”. Which should usually does bring a profitable return in the form of greater efficiency.

4 Later on “Planning commission” realized the importance of labor welfare – in its report “ in order to get the best out of a worker in the matter of production, working conditions require to be improved to a large extent”.
