1 Hungarian Scout Association Strategy planning periods 2006- 2010 (starts in 2004) 2010- 2014 (starts in february 2010)

2 Structure of the Strategy Planning Committee (SPC)- 2006 SPC was the committee of the National Council ( representatives of the districts) The members of the SPC weren't members of the National Council Project leader, with two deputies ( 1 for the communication -external, internal- 1 for the secretary) Core team (work group leaders)-7 members Work groups (for example: education, communication, PR)~ 20 members

3 Steps (1.) Allocate our vision -„How will the HSA in 2060 look like?” Define our values- for example: community, our methods Delineate our mission- „What should we do to reach our vision?”

4 Steps (2.) Status analisys External: our status in the hungarian society (enviroment study), SWOT Internal: survey (~400 members fill it out) Strategic questions and answer( yes-no questions) Strategy emphasis Unified youth education policy External relations, internal co- operation An organization working for the members

5 Important things for the beginings This was a project aimed for the future, which was phsychological needed To move a lot of people and involve them in the planning process

6 Results We could define and communicate our professional priorities: External relations, internal co- operation Unified youth education policy An organization working for the members But we couldn't divide it to smaller projects

7 The 2 nd Strategy Planning Period 2010- 2014 Began in february 2010 Before the elections in the HSA We'll start to make our plans in Sept. 2010

8 The structure of the SPC- 2010 Independent from the National Council Members: National Board (3 members) International Commissioner Representatives from the biggest districts Representatives from the National Council Educational experts Project leaders Representatives from the HSA Hq External expert-from an other NGO- he lead the process

9 Steps We already define our mission and our values in 2006 Status analisys External:SWOT, enviroment study Internal: survey (~ 100 fill), personal meetings Strategic questions and answers Allocate the priorities and the exact steps (projects) of the next 4 years Prepare the strategy document for the general assembly (programme of the National Board)

10 Important experiences in this process We already define our mission and our values Start the new planning process before the other expired External expert for the independence of the process

11 Results of the planning The HSA is an educational movement based on a community lifestyle It's an NGO supporting educational work, based on confidence and dialoge Living our heritage consciously and minding on proper propositions Responsible and acting presence in society
