18. Current Activities for Year 5 and 6
Students use problem solving skills and team building to help their school win.
MFL
Teachers of French and Spanish teach a Christmas lesson to introduce these languages and to talk about these countries at Christmas. BS

English Prefects support Yr 6 in their English lessons.
Yr 6 public speaking challenge
Book writing day – Yr 5 students plan and write their own book, which will then be edited and a final copy produced for them to collect on their Year 5 visit day IT
Sugo Robot Wrestling – Sandhurst students teach Yr 6s how to programme robots and then they compete in matches against other teams from local schools.
Staff are supporting teaching of IT in local primary schools to ensure that students have the necessary skills for secondary school. BS

20. Current Activities for Year 6
Science
 Environmental Day – this is a confidence boosting day for Yr 6 students who may be particularly worried about the transition. Students carry out a traffic survey and then analyse their data and write a report which they present their findings to Senior Teachers.  
Science enrichment days – Yr 5 take part in various experiments and activities. BS

Yr 5 PE Activity Sessions at Sandhurst.

Supporting preparation of primary school plays.
Whole School
Work closely with primary staff to moderate marking, share data and design appropriate curriculums. BS

22. Transition Day
Day 1: Team Building Day – to help students develop relationships with their new friends through team building activities. Day 2: Variety of different lessons – these include core subjects and many other option based subject. BS
