Extend measurements to 3 He  neutron. (can this be done with high polarization + intensity??)  minimize errors and increase x-coverage of ∆G(x) for precision measurement of the first moment of the spin-dependent gluon distribution ∆G=ʃ ∆G(x)dx: minimize errors in  observe scale evolution of the first moment.  global QCD analysis for best knowledge of polarized nucleon structure + pdfs Precision cross section measurements + QCD analysis o Measure cross sections in direct photon production, inclusive jet + hadron production as input to QCD analysis to improve knowledge of  G(x) at large x  Gluon fragmentation function

20 Physics with Polarized Protons at RHIC II20 November 11 th The Structure of Matter: The Atomic Hypothesis If, in some cataclysm, all of scientific knowledge were to be destroyed, and only one sentence passed on to the next generation of creatures, what statement would contain the most information in the fewest words? I believe it is the atomic hypothesis, that all things are made of atoms -- little particles that move around in perpetual motion, attracting each other when they are a little distance apart, but repelling upon being squeezed into one another. In that one sentence, you will see, there is an enormous amount of information about the world, if just a little imagination and thinking are applied. Richard Feynman

Question: What is the structure of matter in the Universe?

22 Physics with Polarized Protons at RHIC II22 November 11 th Summary Structure and origin of matter have been subject of century long investigation first in philosophy and over the last two centuries also in the natural sciences. We well may be the generation who will see the solution of a 2500 year old puzzle. This are exciting times! RHIC Spin (I+II) provides a powerful new experimental method to study the structure of the nucleon
