Let’s get started!! Make sure you have your Community Contributions Journals

There’s a special group that honors people who help their communities. It’s called The Giraffe Heroes Project. Can you guess why? Click the picture to take a Guided Tour of Giraffe Country. Meet Michael Munds. Pick his picture on Stop 2 of your guided tour to learn about all the people he has helped. You do not need to test your GQ. Instead, write in your journal about why the group is call The Giraffe Heroes Project. Was your guess right?

Some kids focus on the needs of people they know. Jarrett Mynear was one of these very special kids. Click on Jarrett’s picture to learn how he helped other children, even though he was very sick. Click on the teddy bear to learn more about how you can help. Do you think Jarrett was a Giraffe?

To learn more about the rainforest and how you can help, click the picture. Take a few minutes to write about something you’ve learned in your journal!

I hope you are excited! That’s called inspiration ! Tomorrow we will continue our journey to become Giraffes by learning how to find out about what people in Louisville need.

Reflection and Analysis Think back to the different projects you learned about today. You can return to the web site if you need more information. Pick one project and describe how the kids made a difference. Name at least one strength and one weakness of the project. Take a few minutes to write in your journals about how you feel about all the kids you met today.
