3 Today's outcomes To be able to explain what the international convention on human rights is. To be able to explain what human rights are and to be able to name at least 5.

4 The United Nations They came up with the Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. The idea was to have minimum rights for every person in every country. All 48 members of the UN signed it.

5 But this wasn’t a part of British Law until... In 1998, Parliament passed the Human Rights Act. This protects British Citizens under British Law. Rights can be restricted to... – Prevent a crime – Protect the rights of others
