2. How to do a “self checkout” of a book from our Media Center! 1. Many times, the Media Specialist or Assistant are not available to assist in the checkout of our books. 2. The following are the directions that will assist you in doing a self check out of books from our Media Center.

3. Destiny actions necessary to check out a book from the Media Center. Follow the numbered directions on the left with the numbers on the right. 1.Destiny should be in “Library View”. 2.“Circulation” should be darkened on the Ribbon along the top of the page, 3.The Menu on the left side of the page should be highlighted as a “Check- out”. 4.You need to enter your library number and click go, or, 5.You can look up your name and library number from the patrons list by clicking on “Find Patron”. #2 #1#1 #3 #4 #5 Note: the status of these two menus.

4. Destiny actions necessary to check out a book from the Media Center. 6. After clicking on the “Find Patron”, find the name of the Patron checking out the book from the list and “click” on their name to bring up the Patron’s record. We want Adames, Alphonso Harold, so we will “click” on his name……. Note: we also now know from the record that Alphonso is in Mr. Washington’s homeroom. #6

5. Destiny actions necessary to check out a book from the Media Center. 7. After we verify that Alphonso is the patron wishing to check out the book and that he has no fines, and no other Items out, … 8. We scan his book, using the portable scanner on the desk to add this book to Alphonso’s record. The book that he is checking out will show up on Alphonso’s record as “Items Out”. If he has only one book to check out, we will then…. 9. Click “Reset” to Reset the database for the next patron and start the process all over again. This insures that no one else checks out a book in Alphonso’s name. #7 #9 #8

After clicking “Reset” on the Menu bar at the left side of the page, Destiny will reset the software allowing us to start another checkout action (as the software is currently configured with Library View, Circulation and check out).
