Yemen Republic Protests began in February 2011 in Sanaa Anti-government crowds started the protesting then pro-government crowds came determined to chase them away They were demanding that the president Ali Abdullah Saleh quit, who has ruled for 32 years and the protests were inspired by revolts in Egypt and Tunisia. Saleh responded by offering great bargains, pledged not to run for another term, pledged not to make his son the next president, then Saleh got hurt and basically stepped down or quit. Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi was declared president for a two year term in February 2012 after an election in which he stood with no opponent. President Saleh

President Hadi was in an election with no opponent and began in February 2012 for a 2-year term. He currently is struggling to get rid of poverty and hunger, an Al-Qaeda terrorist group, a secessionist movement in the south, and Zaidi Shia rebels in the north.
