2 The students will use Microsoft Word, Publisher, or PowerPoint to create advertisements for various businesses.  Students will type text, insert graphics, use the internet, format text, change the font of text, and various other document formatting techniques. Objectives Design with Microsoft Publisher

4 Create a Calendar with a Template The month and year are rotated and aligned with the left edge of the calendar. The image extends across the top of the page. The color scheme is correct. Election Day and Veteran’s Day have been correctly marked. The correct days have been shaded and marked “No School.” The first row is filled, and text color has been changed. In this project, you will…  Answer the following questions on a piece of paper. Define calendar. What is the shortest month? What is the longest month? When is your birthday? When is your parent’s birthday.  Find a sample calendar; copy it to Microsoft Word. Cite the source.  Use a template in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint to create a 2013 calendar for the month of your birthday. Include a picture. Use the Internet to find at least 5 holidays/happenings in that month.

5 Design a Business Card Check your work Use Figure 3.13 as a guide and check that: The text and images are properly aligned and laid out. The logo has been moved to the top left and has a clock graphic. The background image is light and extends across the card. Spelling and punctuation are correct. In this project, you will…  Use a template to create a business card. Include the following  Your name, title: Manager  Company: Use Wal-Mart or a popular Company  Address  Email Address  Telephone  Picture Change information that is too private to share!

6 Add Tear-Offs to a Flyer Check your work Use Figure 3.20 as a guide and check that: The text and images are properly aligned and laid out. Text is sized properly to the text box. WordArt is Ocean colored and extends the width of the page. The bullets in the list are Wingdings font. The image has been flipped to face the bulleted list. Tear-offs contain the correct contact information and extend across the width of the page. Spelling and punctuation are correct. In this project, you will…  Create a flyer advertising babysitting services.  The flyer will include tear-offs at the bottom.  Hint: Use a table.

7 Create a Coupon Mailer Check your work Use Figure 3.28 as a guide and check that: The text and images are properly aligned and laid out. Photo is cropped and sized effectively. Text is sized properly to the text box and easy to read. Dingbats are inserted in World and above the coupon and are sized and placed effectively. The coupon has a heavy, dashed lines around it. Spelling and punctuation are correct. In this project, you will…  Create an advertisement flyer that contains a clip-out coupon.
