3  Helps the dentist with the patient  Gets them ready to be seen by the dentist.  They make sure that the dentist has and extra set of hands  Makes sure that the patient is ok I want to be a dental assistant because I can deal with helping people and I can stay calm and focused. I can deal with a little blood not a lot like a doctor. I can have a positive attitude.

4  Values: you can become a dentist after working as a dental assistant if you want too.  Tasks and Responsibilities: make sure that the patient is ok, help the dentist  Working with data-people-things: you have to work with people and care for patients and their needs, have to help the dentist when needed, and you have to look/understand their data charges to see what they need done and what you’re looking for.  Working environment: you have to have a positive attitude because you are around children as well as others and you cant get frustrated because you might scare the patient.

5  Working hours: you have to arrive 30-45 minutes early to stock things. 6  Career Outlook: it is 14 th on the professions chart  International Outlook: it is a fast growing profession and you can work anywhere  Lifestyle/Lifestyle Goals: the working hours are good because you don’t have to work on Sundays and maybe Saturdays once in awhile, you work 35 hours a week, get paid good money, and you can work anywhere because there are a lot of dentists in Michigan. So I don’t have to move out of Michigan for a job. So yes this would be a good job for me.

7  No I don’t have to move out of Michigan to find a dental assistant job because there are thousands of them in Michigan. It would be fine with me if I have to move but not across the country like Utah, California or Washington.  It falls under health science and that is a good field to be working in.

9  Prepare patients for examinations  Take care of medical histories  Assist the Physician during examinations  Explain medical procedures to patients  Call in prescriptions  Collect laboratory specimens  Sterilize medical insurance I want to do this job because I can look at broken bones, take blood pressure, give shots, and check ups instead of being a surgeon. It pays good money, it has good working hours, and it is a easy job.

10  Values: complete 2 years of associates degree from an accredited school  Tasks and responsibilities: obtain patients medical history, taking and recording vital signs, prepare patients for a procedure/examination, explain procedure, and help the doctor perform procedures  Working with data-people-things: you have to learn how to work with data because you have to be able to know what certain things mean, you have to work with people and care for people daily, and you have to know how to work with the tools you are given.

11  Working environment: you have to have patients because you have to see many people including babies and kids, and very clean  Working hours: 40 hours a week Monday- Thursday  Abilities: analytical skills, have detail when making a vital sign, and technical skills  Training/Education: a one year program that universities and community colleges have  Salary and Benefits: at an average pay you earn $44,000 and benefit by having healthcare, excellent job prospects, and comfortable working environment

12  Career Outlook: has 200 healthcare professions, do therapy, put casts on easy job  International Outlook: there are many jobs that you do like this, you don’t have to move all over the place to find one  Lifestyle/Lifestyle Goals: it pays enough but if I need more money, then I can work for a higher position in that field, the hours are good, don’t have to work on Saturdays or Sundays, it matches the lifestyle I want to live.

13  There are thousands of doctor offices in Michigan so I wouldn’t have to move far to find a job. Even if it is a 30-45 minute drive that would be fine. It falls under health science.

15  Fixes under bite and over bite  Fixes crowding  Gives the patient braces, headgear, and retainer  Fixes the jaw  I would like to become an orthodontist because it pays good money, you get your bachelors degree in college so if dental doesn’t work out for you can get another job or go to college to get your masters, you can work around your schedule, and you get to help someone get the smile they always wanted.

16  Values: must go to college for 4 years get your bachelors degree, 4 years of dental school, and then an additional 2-3 years of training to become an orthodontist.  Responsibilities: have to put braces on and other things, diagnostic and treatment records, have to tell the patient what you’re going to do, adjust dental pieces in mouth, have to have the right technique.  Working with data-people-things: you have to know how to read the patients history and what they need done, you work with people and help people, you have to know what the tools do, and what method you’re going to use on the patient

17  Working environment: you have to be in a good mood because you don’t want to freak the patient out, its clean, and you work with other people  Working hours: they can work anytime they want week days, weekends, half days  Abilities: you have to be patient because you are working in small cramped space (the mouth), you don’t want to hurt the patient, and you don’t want to scare them if you get frustrated  Education and training: it takes 10-11 years to become an orthodontist because you have to get your bachelors degree, go to dental school and then train to become an orthodontist.

18  Salary and benefits: $70,000-$240,000 a year some benefits are you don’t have to work all week/get weekends off and holidays, and good pay  Career outlook: has a fast growing job opportunities  International outlook: you can always find a job being an orthodontist because there are so many job openings and if they are growing fast you will have a good chance to fill one of those spots

19  Lifestyle/Lifestyle Goals: the working hours are good because you can work around your schedule and have weekends and also holidays off. Yes it matches the lifestyle I want to live.  Location: there are many orthodontist jobs in Michigan so I wouldn’t have to make a big move.  It falls under health science and that is a good field to be in.
