3.7 Perpendicular Lines Perpendicular slopes and equations
2
Perpendicular Slopes Slope of perpendicular lines have opposite reciprocal slopes. If m 1 = -2, then it opposite reciprocal would be ½. y = - 2x + 3 and y = ½x – 3 would be perpendicular lines
4
Are the lines Perpendicular?
5
Are these lines perpendicular?
6
-2x + 7y = - 4 7x + 2y = 10
7
Write the equation perpendicular to the line y = 3x – 2 and through the point (3, 4)
8
The equation represents a mirror. A ray of light hits the mirror at (3, 1). What is the equation of the line that is perpendicular to the mirror at this point?
9
What are 6 ways to prove lines parallel?
