15. Prison Releases by Earning Class & Length of Stay 2011

16. New Legislation House Bill 994 increases the amount of diminution of sentence allowed from 35/30 goodtime days per month to 1 and a half good time days eared for every one day served. Projected to save ~4,000 beds in previous projected bedspace assessment. House Bill 1026 decreases the amount of time required for offenders convicted of a 2 nd felony before being eligible for parole release. Prior to the law, offenders convicted of a felony for the 2 nd time were eligible for parole release at 50% of sentenced served. Under HB 1026, these offenders will be eligible for releases at 33% sentenced served. Offenders convicted of a crime of violence, a sex crime or as habitual offender are not eligible for parole. Projected to save ~550 beds in previous projected bedspace assessment. House Bill 228 allows for CTPPT credits to be earned by habitual, non-sex and non-violent offenders House Bill 543 and SB 321 allow for more parole eligibility for life offenders. House Bill 1068 waives the mandatory minimum serving time for non-violent, non-sex offenders. 16
