STEP 3 UPDATE CONT.  For those that took the restructured exam in November we should start seeing exams scores coming in starting this month  And those that took the exam in February we’re not expecting them until June  For those that fail, there is still hope and will can discuss our procedure individually with the residents and their programs.

Licenses  You all should be able to find copies of your residents’  ACLS/PALS certifications (where applicable)  Current UT Licenses  Current DEA Licenses  Medicare Approval Letters  Medicaid Approval Letters (but only a few)  As of today I am working through the ‘S’s  There is still more improvement necessary

9. Pictures  Pictures of your residents should also be in their individual profiles.  As coordinators you are encouraged to upload your residents’ pictures at the beginning of each year but if not we will do them.

MEDICARE Every resident, with the exception of Dental and Pathology, must be enrolled in Medicare This is a patient satisfaction issue, a GME policy, as well as other compliant requirements From University Medical Billing, PECOS (Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System) was designed so that the referring physicians’ credentials can be verified before Medicare claims are paid regardless of where they practice. If a resident is not enrolled their patients will be denied services provided by Medicare. I only have one way to verify they are enrolled via the massive data download on the CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) website. To end on a happy note -
