Really? Pastor Timothy Hinkle December 26, 2010

We Know John 3:16-17 We Know John 3:16-17 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

But do we know 1 John 3:16-17? 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? layheartlayheart

We Know Romans 10:9 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

But do we know Hebrews 10:9? 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” … 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” …  We are called “Christians” because we desire to be like Christ!

We know Romans 8:28 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

But do we know John 8:28 28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. speak  Once again, I remind you that we are to be LIKE CHRIST…

Is Jesus your Savior?  Have you asked Jesus to be your savior?  John 3:16 and Romans 10:9  Have you been Born Again?  As Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:5-6  5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. birthbbirthb

Then, Is Jesus your Lord? Websters Dictionary defines “Lord” as:  one having power and authority over others:  a ruler by hereditary right or preeminence to whom service and obedience are due

Jesus WANTS to be your Lord…will you let Him?  Luke 6:46 (New King James Version) “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?

Let’s look at why Jesus wants to be your Lord 46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock 46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock

Let’s look at why Jesus wants to be your Lord 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.[i]And the ruin of that house was great.” 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.[i]And the ruin of that house was great.”i  Because He loves you and wants your House (life in Him) to STAND FOREVER!

Let’s look at another promise… John 14:1-4 (New King James Version) 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”heart

But remember Jesus is the only way in….Make Him your LORD! John 10 John 10 1 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 1 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

But remember Jesus is the only way in….Make Him your LORD! 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.

Let Jesus lead you!  Accept Jesus as your Savior  Make Jesus your Lord  Listen to Him (through His Word— the Bible—and by His Holy Spirit in prayer)  Do what He says (this is following the Good Shepherd)  He will lead you to green pastures!

Psalm 23 1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Psalm 23 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
