4 Graduation Requirements  4 Credits of English  4 Credits of Math  3 Credits of Science  3 Credits of Social Studies  2 PE Classes (1/2 credit)  ½ Credit - Health  ½ Credit – 21 st Century Technology  1 Credit of Personal Economics (does not apply to CTC students)  1 Credit of Fine Art (Art, Band, Choir, Woods, Blue Blazer/Scroll, Creative Writing)  Completion of Community Service Hours (10 for last year, 15 for this year, 20 for your senior year)  Total of 22 credits needed to graduate

5 Junior Year Timeline  Fall/Winter Look over the newsletter you are provided in homeroom to familiarize yourself with scholarship requirements, etc Begin preparing for the ACT Take the PSAT (October 17 th ) Begin researching potential colleges and majors  Meet with the college reps that come to BHS Visit a college! Focus on your grades Attend the Financial Aid meeting on January 15 th at 7 pm

6 Junior Year Timeline  Spring Register and take ACT (April 13 th ) Visit a college Plan out your Senior Year schedule (fill schedule with college prep courses!) Finish the year strong!  Summer Continue to visit colleges Narrow down college choices

9 Senior Year Timeline  Winter/Spring Keep your grades up Attend the Financial Aid night Fill out appropriate Financial Aid forms Apply for scholarships  Dayton Montgomery County  Brookville Community Decide and Deposit before May 1 Graduate!!!!

16 College Selection  By your senior year, you should narrow college selections down to three or four colleges.  Be sure your qualifications meet the colleges’ criteria (ACT/SAT scores, GPA, major is offered, etc) to avoid losing application fees and being disappointed See pgs. 12 and 13 in handout

19 Financial Aid  Page 12 – 13 in the handout lists the cost of attending Ohio Public and Private Colleges  Consider attending a two year community college and transferring to a four year university to complete the last two years  Work Study is often a good way to help out financially – this is listed on the FAFSA

21 College Student Panel  BHS will host it’s 2 nd College Student Panel  Great opportunity for students to ask questions about life after high school from their former peers Former BHS students  Currently enrolled in a two year or four year University (public, private, and out-of-state)  Working full time after attending CTC or Sinclair  Plan is to host this in December of 2012

22 Dates To Remember  October 25 th – End of First Nine Weeks  November 1 st and 6 th – Parent Teacher Conferences 4:30 – 8:00 pm  November 2 nd – Grade Cards Go Home  November 7 th – Star Day (1:00 Dismissal)

23 Coffee With The Counselors  Communication between home, school and the community  Topics may include career planning, test taking skills, and technology  These will be held in the high school office: October 9 th December 11 th April 9 th All meetings are at 7:30 am
