Warm Up Simplify the following expression using order of operations.
Order of Operations How do you remember the order of operations?
1.1-1.2 Expressions & Numbers
Simplify Expressions To simplify any expression just add like terms. Like terms are terms that contain the same variables raised to the same power. Only the coefficients of like terms are different.
Classifying Real Numbers There are several different kinds of numbers. 1.Natural Numbers 2.Whole Numbers 3.Integers 4.Rational Numbers 5.Irrational Numbers 6.Real Numbers
Classifying Real Numbers All Real Numbers
Classifying Real Numbers Real Numbers
Properties Foldable We will be making a “FIVE TAB” Foldable for the five properties of real numbers. These properties are used to simplify algebraic expressions.
Finding the Additive Inverse The additive inverse of a number has the opposite sign of the original number. Check: Add the two numbers together and you should get ZERO.
Finding the Multiplicative Inverse Flip the fraction (reciprocal) and keep the same sign. Check: Multiply the two numbers together and you should get ONE.
