6 A comprehensive high school-to-college transition program $2,000 scholarships ($1,000 for one year) to any Maine Community College. Community College courses as a senior in high school (with school approval). One-on-one help with college admissions Financial Aid applications, course remediation, and with the adjustment to college life.

7 To Be Eligible, a Student Must Be… A junior in high school and a responsible member of the school community. A Maine resident for at least one year before entering the first year at a Maine Community College. Able to attend college full time (minimum 12 credit hours each semester), then attend successive semesters (no breaks) in a program of study. Capable of succeeding in college but having as yet no plans for college. Having financial need and being the first in your family to attend college may be taken into consideration.

8 How Does ECforME Work?  High schools select students to apply for Early College for ME.  Program staff assists juniors with college placement-testing and early college course registration.  Program staff assists seniors with college applications and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required for ECforME participants.  Program staff assists as college students make the adjustment to and pursue success in college.

9 Student Outcomes Fall 03-Fall 07 578 ECforME students have received an MCCS scholarship and entered a Maine community college between fall 2003 and fall 2007:  52% male  47% first-generation college  73% matriculated into career programs vs an AA degree Of the ECforME students who had completed or were entering their second year of college as of October, 2007— 69% have been successful: still enrolled, graduated, or transferred to a 4- year college. During that same period—fall 2003-fall 2007—an additional 303 ECforME participants enrolled in college. 94% of all 881 ECforME students who enrolled in college have gone to 2- and 4-year colleges in Maine.
