Would you like to be an Endangered Species? A R.A.F.T. writing project by Mrs. Karens 2 nd Grade Class Dozier Elementary - 2008.

A Cry For Help Hello, let me introduce you to me, Im an Endangered animal in a Rainforest tree. There are billions of you and only a few of me, Leave me alone in my rainforest tree. You can go any place or any where, So leave the forests for us to share. Its all quite simple you see, Our home and our life depends on this tree.

Endangered Species R You are an endangered animal. A People around the world F 3 paragraphs on power point T Tell people around the world about yourself and convince them to help your species. Select an endangered animal to research and report on. Pretend you are the endangered animal. You and your partner should come up with 3 paragraphs. Tell about yourself as the animal and convince people to help you. 1 st Paragraph: Tell information about yourself 2 nd Paragraph: Why are you endangered? 3 rd Paragraph: If I could talk, I would say?

Giant Pandas I live in the forest and mountainous areas of central China. My favorite place to be found is in thick bamboo and forests. Of course bamboo is the food of choice for me. I spend most of my life alone, eating and moving about the forests. We have been on the endangered species list because of our habitat loss. Humans are taking our land and cutting down our bamboo forest to make homes for themselves. If I could talk, I would ask people to leave our forest alone. Pretty soon, people will only be able to see us in a zoo or in a picture. Please join the fight to help save my species. Mrs. Karen Schexnaider

The Amazing Tigers I live in a very grassy land deep in the forest. As you know my favorite food is deer and wild pigs. I can be seen in grassy lands, rocky lands, and swamps. I spend most of my time catching food and sleeping in the forest. I have been on the endangered species list because people are cutting down our beautiful forest and we are losing our habitat. If I could say anything, I would tell the people who are cutting down our big beautiful forest to stop cutting down our habitat because I am living in it. By: Morgan Alleman, Anne Catherine LeBlanc, and Sarah Leger

Penguins We always live in the ocean. Our habitat is by inshore islands. Our favorite food is sardines, squids, and fish. We spend our life by the oceans. We are endangered because seals take our food source. The temperature is getting hot and ice is melting so we are losing our habitat. If we were talking animals, we would say to the other animals stop taking our food source. People stop putting pollution in the air. By: Jean-Paul Touchet, Tanner Harris, and Javien George

The China Tigers I live in the south Asian forest and only about 50 of us live in zoos. We eat crocodiles, pythons, wild deer, and wild pigs. We are white, orange, and black. We are endangered because people want our skin to make clothes, belts, and purses. People are making homes in our forest. If I would talk, I would tell them to stop cutting down our forest. By: Logan Broussard, KaylaViator, and Emily Shirley

The Wonderful Tigers I live in the humid jungle. I like to eat antelope, deer, oxen, cattle, and pig. We are on the endangered list because people are slaying us. There are only 200 white tigers left in the world. People are cutting down trees to build roads, buildings, businesses, and homes. If I could talk I would say people stop killing us. By: Mackenzie Hargrave and Caroline Poche

The Basking Shark I live in warm coastal waters. I spend most of my time eating crustaceans, fish eggs, and larvae. I am endangered because people are hunting me for my meat, fins, and oil. If I could talk to people, I would say dont kill me any more. By: Janee Andrico and Jasmine Maclean.

The Right Whales I am found on the south African Coastline. My color is grey. I eat krill and plankton. I can live much longer than 50 years. People saved my life and I am not endangered anymore. By: Calib Marcombe

Koala I live in eucalyptus forests and low wood lands. You may find me in forest most of the time. I spend my time climbing for a place that is high. I have been on the endangered species list for a long time. People are taking our food by tearing it down. They are cutting our shelter, too. If I could talk, I would say please stop cutting down our forest. We will die and suffer hunger. So please tell everyone in your city to stop cutting down our forest. By: Megan Woods

Chimpanzee I live in the rainforests and wet savannas. I am covered with long black hair and a pink face. My favorite food to eat is leaves, buds, and blossoms. I am endangered because my forests are being cut down for farming. If I could talk, I would tell them to stop cutting down the trees. We need to live in them. By: Cole Jordan

Manatees I live in warm shallow waters along the coast. My favorite food is grass from the flooding rivers. I am on the endangered species list because we get hit by boats and people come into our waters for fun. If I could talk, I would say leave me alone in my waters. By: Zoe Landry

Precious Kiwi I live in a small forest. I live to eat lots of baby snakes. I can be seen in small forest and big forest. I have been on the endangered species list because people are killing us and they are losing our habitat. If I could talk I would say leave us alone. Quit killing us and the forest. Stop killing us please. By: Justin W. Mouton

Sea Turtles I live in the ocean. I lay my eggs on the beach. I live most of my life in the water. I eat jellyfish, seaweeds, and shrimp. We are an endangered species, because we lay our eggs on the beach and someone takes them. Fishermen catch us in their nets. If I could talk, I would say Leave us alone. I would tell fishermen not to catch us in their big nets. By: Haley Broussard

An ending message from all Endangered Animals. We would like to thank you for reading and learning about us. All we ask is that you leave us some land to live, grow, and reproduce. Please protect our environment like you try to protect yours.
