10. Applications Fuel Piping –Primarily focused on where piping has threaded fittings and is not backwelded –Reason: Backwelded fittings create a secondary type containment for that fitting that also strengthens the pipe at these areas

Applications Generators –Assuming the piping is backwelded, our focus then points to where fuel piping comes down and enters the filter housing These fittings will not be backwelded due to maintenance and repair –Not necessarily all around the generator –Focus: If the threaded fitting breaks, the pumps will continue to flow fuel and there is no type of detection to alarm anyone –Note: FM Global is going to push to put solenoid valves in, controlled by TraceTek electronics, to shut down the flow in the event of a leak In life support situations, facility management team will not let this happen, so they will have to rely getting a timely signal from TraceTek

Applications Day Tanks –Usually double walled applied with internal leak detection FM still wants to cover these as the internal leak detection may not be approved by them Also, many of these tanks are large, and it is good to have another type of coverage to detect a leak early –Focus: Wrapping the tanks with TT5000 is a good solution Also may want to add a FFS where the pipe enters the tank due to the non-backwelded threads in these areas as previously discussed

13. Applications Boilers –Many different boilers, so applications vary –Similar application to the generators –Focused on where the fuel piping comes into the boilers Hoses and threaded fittings are potential leak points

14. Applications Other “weak spots” –There may be other areas that your FM field engineer wants focus –Each FM engineer may want something slightly different –Other applications may dictate leak detection such as; trenched piping, around drains, etc.

Applications/Solutions TT-FFS –In areas where the pipe is threaded and not backwelded coming into the mechanical equipment –FFS presents the best solution for both FM Global and the customer Meets 30 second reaction time requirement If designed properly, will address the need to get someone at the site of an event quickly to offset the inability to use solenoid valves for shutoff in critical life support facilities Better for the customer as it is reusable if they get fuel in the area during normal maintenance

16. Applications/Solutions Solutions –Solution 1: Build a “dyke” around the critical area with uni-strut or angle iron and caulk the back side of the dyke, mounting the FFS inside the containment
