2 Curriculum Validation Tables CS2001UG Valid Subject Maintenance Creates subjects and connects them to departments which controls the specific subjects a department can later schedule. PS2001UG Valid Department Maintenance Creates departments and connects them to cost centers CS2006UG Valid Instructional Unit Types Creates codes that will connect courses to tuition groups and may also be "banded" to particular standard fees, such as parking fees.

3 Curriculum Validation Tables CS2012UG General Education Validation Records the divisions from which your general education distribution is selected – examples: core, humanities, math, natural sciences, social sciences… Affects transcripts printed in general education order CS2018UG Course Schedule Validation Campus defined but be certain to create a Print Schedule Code of 002 (Continuing Education Schedule) This lets you not include Contract/Non-credit Instruction information in the main campus schedule. This impacts web display also.

These messages are printable in the term schedule, on the student class schedule, and in the public web schedule display. CS2033UG Valid Course Goals Maint. To record transfer curriculum goal areas – critical thinking, natural sciences, global perspective, human diversity,… CS2034UG Course Goal Competencies To record the competencies in each above goal area

5 Curriculum Validation Tables CS2040UG Grade Control Identify the grades your institution uses, assign their grade point values, if they should be included in attempted and earned credit totals, in the grade point average, in full-time equivalency determinations and if grade shading is allowed. CS2041UG Course Level Control Identify for each course level, e.g. developmental, whether it should tally into attempted and earned credit counts, be calculated in the GPA and be included in FTE calculations

7 Curriculum Maintenance Enter the number of years this course is considered valid for meeting requirements to register for a higher level course. Enter the minimum grade point acceptable for this course to count as a pre-requisite Important: Backdate the begin date to on or before the start date of the first term the class will be scheduled into. Enter a Campus ID if your inst. is multi-campus and has different course catalogs at each campus New field

8 Variable Credit Maintenance If you indicated on CS1001UG that a course was variable credit, on this screen you can enter all possible variable values with begin/end dates

9 Curriculum Additional Fields Is the course offered every year, in even years or odd years? Is the course available by demand? Specify the usual number of course offerings per term Can be decimals rather than whole numbers

10 Curriculum Instructional Types Enter all possible active instructional types here. There can be more than one e.g. lecture, distance learning, and independent study

11 Curriculum Description Maintenance You can pull from here for your college catalog

12 Curriculum Dept. & Division Maint. Sets the default department(s) and/or division(s) responsible for this course. This screen defaults the department for the course subject, as entered on the Subject Validation Maintenance screen (CS2001UG)

13 Curriculum Co-Requisite Maint. Registration edit 000017 looks only at co-requisites setup on the term course side. It does not currently look at curriculum records so entry here is primarily for catalog purposes.

14 General Educ. & Grading Method Maintenance You can choose from what you set- up on CS2012UG. This affects the general education ordered transcript Multiple methods are okay but just one can be primary

15 Course Special Fees Rate Type:Enter “F” to charge a flat fee amount - or - “C” to charge fee amount per credit (course must be credit-based). Min/Max Credit: If Rate Type (above) = “C”, then enter the range of credits to which this fee should be applied.

16 Course Registration Restrictions The Curriculum Registration Restrictions Maint screen (CS1017UG) is used to set registration restrictions that apply to all sections of the course. These will roll forward to the Term Course Registration Restrictions Maint screen (CS1117UG). Related edits must be active for restrictions to apply.

17 Curriculum Printable Messages The Curriculum Printable Messages Maintenance screen (CS1019UG) lets you attach the messages you created in the Course Printable Message Validation Maintenance screen (CS2020UG) to courses; TBA, special permission required, lab needed, etc… Course Printable Message Validation Maintenance screen (CS2020UG) ‘Y’ causes message to print in the master schedule and on student class schedule

18 Curriculum Pre-Requisites This screen displays the courses that a student must take before being able to register for a particular course. All courses listed together in the same group are required prior to enrollment. If a student is required to take at least one course out of a possible three, the courses should be listed in separate groups. Same group indicates AND, different groups indicate OR

19 Edit Override Set-Up The Registration Edit Override Setup screen allows the registrar to select the course-related edit codes that can be overridden by various employees for which date ranges. This copies to the term record when it is created using the Copy from Curric button.

20 Deleting Curriculum Records The Curriculum Delete Process screen (CS1006UG) is used to permanently delete curriculum records when errors have been made.

21 Term Course Maintenance Use the Maintain Term Course Records screen (CS1101UG) to schedule sections of valid curriculum courses. Copy the curriculum information into this screen using the Copy Curric Rec button. Once copied data can be modified as needed. Will default to the next available for this subj/nbr Session types 40--90 may be used with Registration Edit 000054 to set additional add/drop dates for registration If the course is fewer than 21 days, a Short Term Obligation Date may be entered. This overrides Date Type 0033. Buttons allow easy editing of relationships

22 Term Course Additional Fields The primary CIP code field is required Entry of an "other institutionI D" is required if the FTE percent entered is greater than zero and less than 100. Special Credit Types may be printed on the official transcript

23 Meeting & Instructor Maintenance Mtg beg/end dates are used to calculate refunds and R2T4 The room must exist on the Facilities Main Maintenance screen (FC1001UG) Dept. staff must be granted room ownership rights to schedule rooms

24 Screens that Pre-Populate Data on these screens should be reviewed but does copy down from curriculum: CS1112UG Term Course Dept. Maintenance CS1114UG Term Course Co-Requisites CS1115UG Gen’l Ed & Grade Method Maint. CS1117UG T/C Registration Restrictions CS1119UG T/C Schedule Print Messages

25 Cross-Listed Courses Cross-Listed Courses are classes taught at the same time and/or in the same classroom/lab. Examples: windows/excel/word; graduate/undergraduate versions of same course; ITV courses This nbr. used by the registration process to determine when course is full

26 Course Media Codes A media code is required for courses with an instruction type of 20-Distance Learner.

27 Lecture/Lab Maintenance During registration, students receive a warning that a lab is required if registering for the lecture course, or that the lecture course is required if registering for a lab. In order for the student to receive the warning message, edit 000046 must be turned on.
