2 Life Charles John Huffam Dickens was an English novelist. He was born at Landport on February 7, in 1812. He was the second of eight children. His family was imprisoned in the Marshalsea prison. In 1824 his father went to prison but he exited after some months, so Dickens could come back to his studies. In 1836 he published his first paper ‘’The Posthumous Papers of Pickwick Club’’. In 1837 he published ‘’Oliver Twist’’. In 1841 he published ‘’ The Old Curiosity Shop’’ and ‘’Barnaby Rudge’’. He visited Roma, Genova, Napoli, Mantova, after that he published a new book ‘’ Pictures of Italy’’ and in 1843 he wrote ‘’A Christmas Carol’’ and in 1844 he wrote ‘’ The Chimes’ between 1849 and 1850 he published ‘’ David Copperfield’’. 1849 and 1850 he published ‘’ David Copperfield’’. He died in 1870.

4 A Christmas Carol Ebenezer Scrooge is a miserly old man who believes that Christmas is just an excuse for people to miss work and for idle people to expect handouts.
