Science is sometimes referred to as “natural philosophy.” LIFE SCIENCES PHYSICAL SCIENCES Biology; Zoology; Botany; etc. Astronomy; Geology; Chemistry; Physics; etc. There are two main areas of science:

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH EINSTEIN Q: Why is physics considered the most basic science ? A: Physics is the study of the fundamental properties of nature including: motion, energy, force, etc.

What is the SCIENTIFIC METHOD? The scientific method is a process used to gain, organize, and apply knowledge. The following steps comprise the scientific method: 1)Recognize a problem 2)Make a hypothesis 3)Predict the outcomes 4)Perform an experiment 5)Formulate the simplest, general rule Scientific Method

MATCH THE FOLLOWING WORDS TO THEIR CORRECT DEFINITIONS: Hypothesis: Fact: Law (principle): Theory: An educated guess A close agreement among scientists about a phenomenon A hypothesis that is found to be true over and over again and not contradicted A body of knowledge that encompasses well-tested and verified hypotheses about nature

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH EINSTEIN Q: What makes a hypothesis scientific? A: A hypothesis is scientific if an experiment can be done to prove that it is wrong.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH EINSTEIN Q: What is the difference between science and technology? A: Science is the study of our universe and questions about our universe. A: Technology is using science to solve practical problems.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH EINSTEIN Q: What is the difference between science, art, and religion? A: Art describes human experience in nature. A: Religion describes the purpose of nature.
