7 Academic or Applied? Changes to levels should be done in consultation with (that means talking with) grade 9 teachers and your parents and maybe even your guidance counsellors. 11 Compulsories – Special Notes Switching from Applied Grade 9 to Academic Grade 10 is allowed in English, History, Science and French only. Ask yourself:  Did I do extremely well in the applied level?  Am I willing to put in the extra time and effort it will take to work in the academic level?  Have I talked with my grade 9 teacher and what does he or she think about this idea?  Are my parents in support of this change?

12 Compulsories – Special Notes Math does not allow for a direct transition from the Applied to the Academic level. Math does not allow for a direct transition from the Applied to the Academic level.  There is a half credit transition course that is available but very difficult to access – check out Summer School for this.  Some students who really want to move into the academic stream in math will, after completing 1P, go on to do 1D and then move onto 2D.
