Equation Story Once upon a time there was a variable named x. He had a problem that he could not solve. Mr. x asked would you help me solve my problem please. Here is my problem x + 7 = 8.
Mr. x the first thing you have to do is get the x on the side by itself. Since the 7 is being added, you must subtract 7 from both sides.
X + 7 = 8 7 7
