Implementation of Hourly Rounding  Steps for implementation:  Post hourly rounding log in each patients' room and explain the purpose for the sheet and plan for hourly rounding.  Conduct purposeful rounding on each patient (including the 8 key behaviors) Round every HOUR from 6am to 10pm Round every TWO HOURS from 10pm to 6am  Document the round on the rounding log

7. What Is In It For the Staff?  Staff will have more time in a day to accomplish tasks.  Staff will run around less because of the reduced call lights.  Patients will be happier—that will make your job easier and day happier.  The units will be quieter and less hectic.
