3 3 3 Spring 2008 SBA & HSGQE School Receipt of Materials Notify the DTC if any materials are missing or damaged, or if you need additional materials. The DTC will notify DRC. If you receive additional materials from the DTC, record the materials received and the security numbers on the last page of the School Security Checklist. Associate T. C.

4 4 4 Spring 2008 Test Administration Check Your Test Materials For Associate (building) Test Coordinators who prepare test materials: –Test Administration Directions –Test books/answer booklets for your testing group(s) with a precode label or district/school label on each book –Do Not Score labels –Do Not Disturb sign (not provided by DRC) Associate T. 10 10 Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Accommodated Materials Large Print Test Books (separate by subject) Braille Test Books (separate by subject) Audiotapes –Writing and Mathematics for Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE –Reading (EED approved Modified HSGQE ONLY), Writing, and Mathematics for HSGQE Retest {Transcribers will be required to transcribe students responses into a Form D (Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE) or D15 (HSGQE Retest) test book.} Associate T. 11 11 Spring 2008 SBA & HSGQE Accommodated Materials If a student uses a Large Print or Braille test book, or has keyboarded his/her responses, school staff must transcribe verbatim the students responses into a standard test book/answer booklet. Test books/answer booklets must bear the signature(s) of the transcriber(s) and the transcription date on the inside front cover. Its NOT permissible to insert, adhere, staple, or clip a keyboarded response into a test book/answer booklet. Associate T. C.

12 12 SBA & HSGQE Labeling Test Books/Answer Booklets All test books and answer booklets must have a label applied before the test books are used by students. Test books/answer booklets that do not have a precode label or district/school label will be considered unused and will NOT be scored. Manual scoring of test books will be at district expense ($150/per content area) Associate T. C.

13 13 SBA & HSGQE Labeling of Reading and Writing/Mathematics Test Books Two sets of precode labels are produced for students in grades 3 and 4. One should be placed on the reading test book, and the other should be placed on the writing/mathematics test book. Two sets of precode labels will be produced for students taking the grade 10 SBA. One should be placed on the reading test book and the other should be placed on the writing/mathematics test book. Associate T. C.

14 14 SBA & HSGQE Labeling of Reading and Writing/Mathematics Test Books For grades 3, 4, & 10, if a precode label is used on one test book and a district/school label is used on the other, the student-identifying information must be bubbled exactly as printed on the precode label. If district/school labels are used on both books, the student-identifying information must be bubbled exactly the same way on both books. Associate T. C.

15 15 SBA & HSGQE Labeling of Test Books/Answer Booklets Apply each label to the front cover of the test book/answer booklet in the box containing the wordsATTENTION: Apply label here. Be sure to use only SBA labels on SBA materials, Science SBA labels on Science SBA materials, & HSGQE labels on HSGQE materials. Associate T. C.

16 16 Spring 2008 Precode Labels White Precode labels are produced for each student who appears in DRCs Online Precode System at 5:00 PM Alaska time on January 22, 2008. Each Assessment is identified on the precode label. If a precode label is used, the bubbles on the front cover of the test book/answer booklet should not be filled in. Precode Label Associate T. C.

17 17 Spring 2008 District/School Labels District/school labels are provided for students who do not appear on the precode file. If a district/school label is used, all bubbles on the test book/answer booklet cover MUST be filled in. District/School Label Associate T. C.

18 18 Color Coded District/School Labels SBA, Science SBA, & HSGQE Tan District/School labels for the RWM SBA (grades 3-9). Pink District/School labels for the Science SBA (grades 4, 8, & 10). Yellow District/School labels for the Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest. Use ONLY the colored label designated for the assessment. Labels are NOT interchangeable Associate T. C.

19 19 Spring 2008 Do Not Score Labels Use a Do Not Score label if : a pre-code label was placed on test booklet but student didnt show up for testing. a label was placed inappropriately (e.g., misaligned, wrong label) on a test booklet. Place a Do Not Score label in the preprinted box and use a new test book or answer booklet for that student. Label Not Aligned Associate T. C.

21 21 RWM SBA (Grades 3-9) Administration Length of Exam The RWM SBAs will take approximately two to four hours per day for most students. The test is not timed. Suggested Session Schedule for RWM SBAs Grades 3 & 4 – Take a 5-10 minute break after 40 minutes of testing. Grades 5-9 – Take a 5-10 minute break after 60 minutes of testing. Associate T. C.

22 22 Science SBA (Grades 4, 8, and 10) Administration Length of Exam The Science SBA will take approximately 60-70 minutes for most students. The test is not timed. Suggested Session Schedule A break is given after 30 minutes of testing. Associate T. C.

23 23 Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Administration Length of Exam The Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE and HSGQE Retest will take approximately two to four hours per day for most students. The test is not timed. Recommended Testing Schedule Take a 2 minute stretch break after the first 60 minutes of testing. Take a 10-15 minute break after the next 60 minutes of testing. Associate T. 24 24 SBA Scheduling Parameters Each district MUST designate district-wide test days. Districts must communicate to their schools which days they will be administering the SBAs by grade and content area. Districts must follow the designated test order: reading (first), writing (second), mathematics (last). The Science SBA shall be administered to students in grades 4, 8, and 10 after reading, writing, and mathematics SBAs are completed. Associate T. C.

25 25 SBA Scheduling Parameters Districts are NOT required to set the testing schedule on consecutive days during the test window. Students who are not able to take the SBAs on the districts designated test days may take the SBAs on any of the days that follow within the test window. No SBA may be administered prior to March 31 or after April 14, 2008 including any accommodated testing for students with disabilities. Associate T. C.

26 26 Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Schedule Schools must administer the exams as follows: –Reading on April 1 –Writing on April 2 –Mathematics on April 3 Regulation does not permit variations on this schedule. Associate T. C.

27 27 Spring 2008 School Return of Materials After testing is complete, check students test books/answer booklets and ensure the following: –A precode label or district/school labels IS APPLIED TO ALL TEST BOOKS THAT ARE TO BE SCORED. –The Teachers Use Only field is filled in with any code(s) applicable to the student. You must consult your DTC before invalidating any test. You must consult your DTC before filling in the Modified bubble. Associate T. C.

28 28 Spring 2008 School Return of Materials Inventory the materials and record the information on the School Security Checklists or SBA Classroom Site Secure Materials Inventory List (RWM SBA (grades 3-9) and Science SBA (grades 4, 8, & 10) only). Make two copies. Forward one copy to your DTC and place the other copy in box 1 of materials being returned to DRC. Return all boxes to your DTC. Associate T. C.
