4 Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CEIS) CEIS is a set of coordinated services for students in kindergarten through grade 12 (with a particular emphasis on students in K-03) who are not currently identified as needing special education or related services, but who need additional academic and behavioral support to succeed in a general education environment. Section 618 (f) of IDEA; 34 CFR, Section 300.226 (a)

5 Eligible Students under CEIS  CEIS funds may only be used to provide interventions to students who need academic or behavioral support to succeed in the general education environment.  CEIS funds may not be used to provide interventions to students who are currently identified as needing special education and related services.

6 CEIS Reporting Requirements Each LEA that implements CEIS must report to KDE on the number of children who received CEIS and the number who subsequently receive special education and related services under Part B of IDEA within two years after receiving CEIS. 7 Special Education Exiting Requirements Student must be enrolled on first instructional day of school. No mid-year enrollments will appear on this report. Student must be ‘Active’ or ‘Active/Referred’ Special Education on the first instructional day of school prior to exiting or withdrawing from the district. Student must be 14 years of age or older by December 1 st of the reporting year.

8 Additional Requirements Student must have withdrawn from the school with any withdrawal status excluding W01: Change in homeroom OR W02: Change in school within district OR Student must have been enrolled in Special Education in previous year but have the enrollment ‘No Show’ checkbox between 1 st day of instruction and October 1 st OR Student must have been enrolled in school on the first day of instruction and exit special education at any point during the instructional period reported with an exit status and exit date

9 Data Entry Student Information | General | Enrollment Tab | Special Education Section Status = Active or Active Referred Special Ed Exit Status - select the reason the student is no longer receiving Special Education and Related Services 01: Transfer to Regular Ed 02: Graduated with a Diploma 03: Certificate of Attainment 04: Maximum Age 05: Deceased 06: Moved, Known to Continue 07: Dropped Out Special Ed Exit Date

11 Exiting Report Report located by using the following path: KY State Reporting | Special Ed Exit Report Extract options: Effective Date = 6/30/09 Format = CSV (for submission) OR HTML (for review) Warnings: A warning will be produced if a student has an End Status excluding W01 or W02; BUT does not have a corresponding Exit Status and/or Exit Date A warning will be produced if a student has an Exit Status but no Exit Date or vice versa These are only informative warnings, they will not prevent the report from being generated.

Total students with resolution SSP2 – Expelled, NOT Receiving Services; sort for Regular Ed and Special Ed

17 Known Issues Query #1: the data field ‘resoulutionLengthSchoolDays’ field is not adding the first day of suspension in the calculation

18 Submission of Reports Secure File Transfer (DoSE Upload) Web Application 1. Open Web Browser 2. In location bar, type http://apps.kde.state.ky.us/loginhttp://apps.kde.state.ky.us/login 3. Enter user ID and password 4. Click the ‘Go’ button 5. Click on the ‘Secure File Transfer (DoSE upload) link 6. Click the ‘Browse’ button 7. Select your file to submit 8. Click on ‘Upload your file’
