6 Women Suffrage Movement Chartist Movement did not include women The only country to have women suffrage prior to the 20 th century was New Zeland 1848 Seneca Falls (Mott and Stanton) Peaceful non threating efforts were unsuccessful turned to more militant such as protests, hunger strikes and suicides (Emmeline Pankhurst- Women Social and Political Union)
