2. Who are we? SGOSS – a national charity working to recruit governor volunteers all over England. Our vision is for every school in England to have a diverse and effective governing body driving school improvement. We work with volunteers and businesses who are interested in supporting education. Since 2000, we have helped to place over 20,000 volunteers in schools across England.

3. How do we work? 1 SGOSS works in partnership with employers across the public and private sector as well as community organisations throughout the country. We use our networks to raise awareness of school governance and attract new volunteers.

4. 2 We will then search our database to see if we have any suitable volunteers. If we don’t, we will advertise your vacancies in the local community using our media and business contacts. 3 Once a suitable volunteer comes forward, SGOSS will be in touch providing the volunteer’s details for your consideration. 4 You take it from there with the volunteer! The Registration Process Register at www.sgoss.org.uk/schools You specify the vacancy you are looking to fill – community, co- opted, foundation etc. You state the skills you would like to bring on to the governing body SGOSS refers applications from volunteers with the skills the schools require.
