What is the most effective way to increase the number of items Rosythians recycling?

 To encourage children, the future pillars of Singapore to recycle  Find out what is the best way to motivate these children to recycle, so that other societies in the world can also effectively encourage recycling

 Primary 5-Excellence (12 pairs) o 6 pairs get plain A4 recycling boxes o 6 pairs get personally decorated A4 recycling boxes * The pair who recycle the most number of items will receive a small reward*

 Primary 5-Resilient (12 pairs) o 6 pairs get a personally decorated A4 recycling box o 6 pairs will share a personally decorated A4 recycling box

 Primary 5-Victorious (12 pairs) o 6 pairs get a plain A4 recycling box o 6 pairs will share one plain A4 recycling box

 Survey o I will give out a short survey to the classes to find out which method they think will motivate them most.  Experiment/Observation o I will count the number of items recycled for each situation and plant a pie chart

 People express more willingness to recycle in the present in response to loss-framed messages, messages that convey negative consequences of not recycling whereas they showed more willingness to recycle in the future in response to gain frames messages, messages that convey the positive consequences of recycling. o The results demonstrated that to get people to act now, emphasizing the urgency of the problem is most effective; to get them to act in the future, having them think about the positive benefits of their actions works best.

 5 ways to promote recycling o Set a good example o Organize a recycling event in your community o Talk to your child’s school class o Start a recycling programme at work o Ask your city council to start a money programme for recyclables

 Saves Natural Resources - By making products from recycled materials instead of virgin materials, we conserve land and reduce the need to drill for oil and dig for minerals.  Saves Energy - It usually takes less energy to make recycled products; recycled aluminium, for example, takes 95% less energy than new aluminium from bauxite ore.

 Saves Landfill Space - When the materials that you recycle go into new products, they don't go into landfills or incinerators, so landfill space is conserved.  Saves Money and Creates Jobs - The recycling process creates far more jobs than landfills or incinerators, and recycling can frequently be the least expensive waste management method for cities and towns.  Saves Clean Air and Water - In most cases, making products from recycled materials creates less air pollution and water pollution than making products from virgin materials.
