Imagery is a powerful conduit to mirror both the tone and the mood of writing. While Marquez’ imagery portrays a grotesque setting shrouded in dreams, confusion, and ominous omens, Esquivel’s imagery mirrors the tone of her characters. Her imagery often evokes a direct experience with the character’s emotions.
