3 Discussion  TURN TO PAGE 1 IN BOOK 2.  What is common about the five pictures?  Can a scientist prove ( 证明 ) or disprove a mystery? Why?

4 UFOs and Aliens Vocabulary Alien – something foreign. Abduct – to kidnap; to take away. UFO – Unidentified Flying Object.

5 Yeti  “Yeti” is its name in the Himalayas, it is also known as:  Bigfoot (USA)  Sasquatch (Europe)  Old Yellow Top (Canada)  Yowie (Australia)  People have found hair and footprints. Some people have seen it and have taken pictures!

6 Nessie  Loch Ness Monster is also known as Nessie.  She lives in Scotland in a lake called Loch Ness.  She has a long neck.  People believe she is an ancient dinosaur.

7  Do you believe in Big Foot or The Loch Ness monster? Why?

8  Do you believe in Aliens? Why?  If you saw a UFO, Yeti or Nessie some day what would you do?

9 Hoaxes 骗局  A hoax is an attempt ( 企图 ) to trick people into believing that something false is real.  How could the Yeti and Nessie be hoaxes?

11 Hoaxes 骗局  What are some hoaxes that have been created in China?

12 Create your own hoax.  Discuss with your neighbor.  Plan a hoax to play in Changsha.  Tell me what the hoax will be, and how you will do it, and what you will need to do it.
