Chemical water testing

Chemical hardness testing of drinking water  Our water has a hardness of 28dH which means that the water is hard

Testing pH  Our drinking water has a pH of 7, which means that it is neutral

Evidence for water pH  The solution is green which shows that the water is a neutral with a pH of 7

Nitrite NO 2  Even after 3 minutes we didn’t notice any changes of colour,so there is no trace of nitrite in our water

Proving ammonia NH 4  After 15 minutes of reaction we didn’t see any changes of colour

 After the addition of 15 more drops of reagent, we noticed a change in colour so there is ammonia in our school water but according to the rules it is the allowed amount of NH4 = 0.05 mg

Proving nitrate NO 3  When the reaction finished,we didn’t see any changes,so there is no nitrate in the water

Proving phosphate PO 4  After we put the reagents in the water, we were observing the reaction and we didn’t notice any changes in colour, so we concluded that there are no phosphates in our water

Conclusion  In conclusion our statistics show next:  Our water is hard(according to testing/28dH  pH is 7(neutral)  There is no nitrite NO 2  There is only a small amount of ammonia NH4(0.05 mg)  There is no nitrate(NO3) or phosphate(PO4) in the water  Water is good for drinking
