4 Topic Hotlist Collects web sites and divides them into sub-categories Provides students a breadth of materials on the topic they are studying Example: China on the Net American History and Government

5 Multimedia Scrapbook Divide collected web sites by media type: Photographs, maps, videos, sound clips, etc. Students can download these scraps into a newsletter or presentation Example: Exploring China Exploring China Turn-of-the-Century Child (Review)Turn-of-the-Century ChildReview Space Explorers Maps and DLS: National Image Library United Streaming Video Sound Clips

6 Treasure Hunt Pose questions to prompt learners toward acquiring new knowledge from a hotlist of web sites. Pose one key question related to each web site. Choose questions that define the scope of the topic to help students synthesize what they have learned. Example Black HistoryBlack History Tropical Treasure Hunt

7 Subject Sampler Engage students in aspects of a topic that they would find personally interesting or motivating. Students feel connected to the topic and develop positive attitudes Example: My ChinaMy China Centennial of Flight Civil War Moon Sampler

8 WebQuest An activity that prompts learners to inquire and construct meaning through collaborative research and decision making. Works well with current events and controversial social and environmental issues. Example: Tuskegee TragedyTuskegee Tragedy Underground Railroad Ancient Egypt Webquest

9 Which Format to Choose? Hotlist or Multimedia Scrapbook -- Use if youre new to the Web or think students need additional resources Treasure Hunt -- Use if learners need to gain more knowledge Subject Sampler -- Use as a hook WebQuest --Use to challenge learners with higher-level thinking
