Prime Factor and GCF

Vocab Prime number - # > 1 whose factors are only 1 and itself Composite number - # > 1 that has more than 2 factors Prime factorization – express as a product of factors that are all prime

Vocab Factored form – when a monomial is expressed as a product of prime #s and variables (variables cannot have exponents greater than 1) GCF – largest factor that all numbers share (prime factor each number and circle common) Relatively prime – when two or more integers or monomials have a GCF of 1

Factor Prime or Composite? 1) 36 2) 23

Prime Factor 1)90 2) -140 3) 12a b

GCF 1) 15 and 16 2) 36x y and 54xy z
