1 Bulletin Boards Bulletin boards can be used to reinforce instructional goals, communicate essential information, include and motivate students, and to make the classroom a more appealing place. Bulletin boards should be attractive, have an objective, and should often be used to display student work.

2 Look at the PICTURES…… Get your MOUTH ready to make the first sound Try a different VOWEL sound. SLIDE through the whole word. SKIP hard words and come back to them. SPELL the word out loud. REREAD if the word does not make sense. Think of a RHYMING word that you do know. “CHUNK it ” Look for smaller words in bigger words. G D Readers….

3 Good Readers Students will learn to demonstrate reading strategies when they learn to self monitor reading skills. Students will be able to learn reading strategies so they will be successful readers. When students can learn reading strategies, they can learn to identify and monitor their own words. This bulleting board will help students achieve their goals so they will be successful readers.

5 Students will demonstrate reading comprehension strategies when they learn to question and reflect. Students will be able to learn strategies to assist and monitor their comprehension. Students will be reminded to ask questions, and relate prior knowledge; they will be building background knowledge. This bulletin board will teach students to learn to make connections to the stories they have read, prior experiences, and world around them.

Students will be able to learn that the magic “e” changes the sound of the vowel sound from short to long.

9 Handy Reading Strategies Students will demonstrate how to reflect and sound out words when they use the Handy Reading Strategies. Students will learn how to problem solve and self-monitor how to sound out words.

10 1.Read for 30 minutes a day. 2.Find the main idea. 3. Recall facts and details. 4.Recognize cause and effect. 5.Compare and contrast. 6.Make predictions. 7.Journal about the story. Reading for Success Reading Everyone

11 Reading Recipes Students will be able to explain, identify facts, and details in a story when they learn these strategies. Student will teach students to compare and contrast stories or items along with predicting when they read.This bulletin board will teach students reading comprehension strategies. This bulletin board will teach students to practice reading and writing in order to learn to read.

13 Syllables Can Be Fun! Students will be able to explain syllables in a word. This bulletin board will help teach students how syllables break down. This bulletin board is meaningful and fun.
