5. (S T C LEMENT OF A LEXANDRIA ) Prayer is, then, to speak more boldly, converse with God. Though whispering, and not opening the lips, we speak in silence, yet we cry inwardly. For God hears continually all the inward converse.

He enlightens those who have been cleansed from every stain of sin and makes them spiritual by communion with himself.
